A distinctive premium Japanese green tea, Gabalong combines elegant, needle-shaped leaves with a wonderfully fresh and gently fruity character.
What makes this tea particularly unusual is the way the freshly harvested leaves are treated before processing. They are kept for several hours in an oxygen-free environment, a method originally developed by Japanese tea researchers in the 1980s. During this process, naturally occurring glutamic acid in the leaves is converted into gamma-aminobutyric acid, better known as GABA.
The result is a beautifully refined green tea with a smooth, fresh cup, delicate fruity notes and an intriguing character that sets it apart from more traditional Japanese green teas.
