Gyokuro Tokiwa Japanese Green Tea
Among Japan’s most treasured teas, Gyokuro Tokiwa is renowned for its exceptional quality, delicate sweetness and beautifully rich umami character.
Unlike most green teas, Gyokuro is carefully shade-grown for several weeks before harvesting. By protecting the tender tea leaves from direct sunlight, the plants naturally produce higher levels of chlorophyll and amino acids, creating the tea’s distinctive deep green colour, silky body and naturally sweet flavour.
The name “Tokiwa” is an ancient Japanese word describing the everlasting green of nature, perfectly reflecting the tea’s vibrant emerald infusion.
Gentle fruity aromas greet the nose, while each sip reveals a wonderfully smooth cup with subtle sweetness and the elegant umami notes for which Gyokuro is celebrated. The finish is soft, lingering and exceptionally refined, making this an outstanding tea to savour slowly.
