To shop local and support local businesses is very close to my heart.
This might have something to do with the fact, that we are a small business ourselves that need support. It feels very often like David against Goliath when you are running your own small business. But we are still there!
So far we have managed to keep our head above water, even with the lockdowns. We survived, but at the skin of our teeth. I am honest here: it has been brutal so far. It was our online shop that kept us afloat.
And you, our lovely customers have helped us to stay open!
Currently we are working with three local businesses which supply their items to the shop and online.
We will add a menu specially dedicated to their businesses and items they are offering. We will be having Greeting Cards, Wool and Books 🙂
Our greeting cards are supplied by Cards and Giftwrap . Janet has the most amazing cards in her wee shop We had then on offer for quite some time now in our giftboxes. Over the Christmas period, when we were allowed to be open, we also had a box of them at the shop and our customers loved them. So, only fair to offer them not only in combination with the giftpack, but also on their own.
The wool in our gift boxes and subscriptions are from our local wool dealer Wool 4 Ewe here in Stornoway. Jackie has fantastic wool and it is safe to say that nobody can have enough wool … Apart from the sock wool she also has her very own range of Hebridean Wool which will be available fairly soon in our wee Shop Local corner here on the website.
And last, but not least, our friends at the Baltic Book Shop are supplying us for our giftboxes and subscription boxes with most of the books. As it would be too much to list them all, we will offer the books of local authors. Some of them, like Peter May, are no longer residents but come to visit frequently. Others, like Di Reed or G.R. Jordan, are still living here. Their books and those of other local authors will also be in our book section of Shop Local.
Once this category of Shop Local is set up, you will be able to add cards, books and/or wool to all of your orders. Or send them as gift.
