Orders, delivery times & a gentle word about patience

Running a small, independent island business comes with many joys — and a few realities that are worth explaining from time to time.

Every order placed with us is processed as swiftly as possible. We don’t let parcels sit around. Once your order is ready, it’s handed over to Royal Mail and you’re sent a tracking number, allowing you to follow its journey step by step.

From that moment on, we see exactly what you see.
We don’t have access to internal Royal Mail systems, nor can we chase parcels beyond the tracking information provided.

Certain times of year inevitably bring delays. Christmas and New Year are well known for slowing postal services, but living and working on the islands adds another important factor: the weather.

Heavy storms and blizzards can ground ferries — and ferries are a crucial part of how Royal Mail transports items to and from the islands. When sailings are cancelled, mail simply cannot move, no matter how well prepared anyone is. Add public holidays into the mix — including the 2nd of January here in Scotland — and delays can stack up through no fault of the sender or the recipient.

What is always within our control is how we communicate.

If you have questions, concerns, or just need reassurance, please get in touch. We are approachable, reachable, and happy to help wherever we can. A calm conversation is always the most sensible first step.

We appreciate your patience, your understanding, and your kindness — especially during the busiest and stormiest times of the year. Supporting a small island business is never taken for granted, and we’re genuinely grateful to have you here.
