- Tea
Tea is a popular beverage enjoyed by millions of people around the world. It is made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant and is known for its various health benefits. There are many types of tea, including black, green, white, and herbal tea. Each type has a unique flavour and contains different amounts of caffeine and antioxidants.
In some cultures, tea is not just a beverage but a part of tradition and socialization. It is often served with snacks or meals and is a way to bring people together.

Traditional German Christmas Treats – What’s Your Favourite?
Christmas in Germany is all about the scent of spiced Printen, soft Stollen, buttery Spekulatius and decadent marzipan delights. We’re bringing a little of that magic to the Hebrides — and you can help us decide which German goodies to stock this year.
From Lebkuchen and Aachener Printen to Bahlsen biscuits, Reber Mozartkugeln, Milka and Niederegger marzipan, we want to know your festive favourites. Take our quick survey and share which authentic German sweets make Christmas special for you. ✨
A Taste of Home, A Touch of Nostalgia
There’s something about a German Christmas that stirs the heart – the glow of fairy lights, the scent of roasted almonds and cinnamon, the comforting sweetness of marzipan and Stollen shared with family. Every year, we try to capture a little of that magic here at the Hebridean Tea Store.
Our shelves fill with festive treats that have travelled from Aachen, Lübeck, and beyond, and yet every year our customers surprise us with what vanishes first.
So this season, we thought we’d ask you directly. Which German food make your heart happy? Are you dreaming of Lebkuchen and Aachener Printen, or perhaps those buttery Spekulatius biscuits that melt in your mouth? Maybe it’s the familiar names – Bahlsen, Niederegger, Reber, Milka, Lindt or Ferrero – that bring a little nostalgia to your winter days.
It only takes two minutes to let us know, and as a thank you, everyone who takes part (and leaves their e-mail) will be entered into a draw for a festive tea tin.
Vote and Win a Festive Tea Tin!
We’ll be gathering responses throughout the next few weeks to decide which sweets, biscuits and marzipan favourites should fill our Christmas shelves this year.
Whether you’re a German expat longing for familiar flavours or a Brit who fell in love with German festive food at a Christmas market, your vote counts.
As autumn winds sweep across the islands and the first chill creeps into the air, we’re already dreaming of the scents and flavours that make Christmas so special. Your answers will help us fill our shelves with the tastes you’ve been missing — the authentic German sweets that turn a quiet winter evening into something a little magical.
So put the kettle on, take a moment to share your favourites, and help us bring a bit of Germany’s festive spirit to the Hebrides this Christmas. ✨
