Ethiopia Yirgacheffe – medium roast

Situated in the Kochere district, the Beloya washing station operates dual processing units to ensure the effective washing and drying of the coffee cherries. To accomplish this, the station utilizes the water sourced from the nearby river system.

Local smallholder farms located in the surrounding hills entrust the processing, cupping, and sale of their cherries to the Beloya washing station, which has been successfully running for more than two decades.

The coffee cultivated in this region flourishes at high altitudes, benefiting from the iron-rich soils. Farmers in the area employ well-honed traditional pest control techniques that have been refined over numerous years, resulting in widespread organic production practices.

Upon arrival at the station, the cherries undergo a detailed hand-sorting process. The carefully selected cherries are then transferred to raised beds, where they undergo a drying period of approximately 21 days. After drying, the husks are meticulously removed through milling, and the coffee beans are subsequently stored and transported to the dry mill for final processing.
