Turkish Style Tea Alla Turca – Ceylon Tea OP-A
We came across this great Ceylon tea and are more than impressed. It tastes different compared to other Ceylon teas.
The “Alla Turca” means “the Turkish style” and has a large, open, twisted, elongated, black-grey leaf. They are very bold compared to ordinary Ceylon tea. The infusion is red-brown
The tea comes from the south of Ceylon and reminds much of traditional Turkish tea.
What is different about Turkish tea?
The difference is more how Turkish tea is being prepared. It is quite similar to the Russian version with a samovar. If you do not have the Turkish double teapot, don’t worry, you do not need it. There are several videos on, e.g. YouTube, that show you how to make your tea “Alla Turca”.
Can I make Turkish tea without a dual teapot?
Yes, you can. You make strong tea in a small-ish teapot and let it steep for around 20 minutes. If you have a tea glass, add a spoonful of sugar, fill half the glass with the tea, and then top up with freshly brewed hot water.
