The Starry Night mug is based on a painting of the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh, is one of our bestselling tea or coffee mugs. The vibrant colours of this mug are enhanced through the gold plating, which makes the stars appear sparkling.
The Starry Night mug was inspired by a painting that might be the most known picture of Vincent van Gogh. When we decided to bring a collection of mugs based on famous artists, we knew immediately that this mug was a must-have.
It turns out that the Starry Night mug is one of our bestselling tea mugs. It is also great for coffee.
They are made of porcelain. It can take up to 350ml of tea or coffee.
There have been various interpretations. Unfortunately, van Gogh had a lifelong battle with mental health problems. While seeking respite in an asylum in Southern France, he had a good view of the surrounding countryside from his window. The picture is a thoughtful reflection of what he saw during nighttime. After his death, his brother inherited his paintings and later his brother’s wife, Jo. To make van Goghs pictures more prominent, she strategically sold some of his artworks to museums and art collectors. Today, the painting can be seen in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
